Sub.: Stakeholder discussion to review the specifications of CITI-CAI Model Cotton Contract – reg.

This has reference to the CITI-CAI Model Cotton Contract which was launched by the Textile Commissioner on 19th October 2022 with the objective of minimizing trade disputes and fostering fair trade practices in the cotton industry.

CITI conducted several rounds of stakeholder discussion to finalize the various parameters of the contract. However, CITI has recently received communications from All India Cotton Broker Association and TEXPROCIL raising concern that traders are using the standards mentioned in CITI-CAI cotton contract to dilute the quality standards of the cotton and has requested CITI to review the specifications of the Cotton Contract to address the same.

Accordingly, it is proposed to hold a virtual stakeholders review meeting to discuss the issue and brainstorm potential amendments to make the contract more adaptable and aligned with industry needs. The details of the meeting are as below:
