Precot Limited,
559/4- 4th D-Block, Hanudev Info park Pvt Ltd Nava India road, Udaiyampalayam, Coimbatore-641028 Tamil Nadu

Shri Ashwin Chandran is one of the key voices shaping India’s textile ecosystem. He leads the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry as Chairman, along with the Textile Sector Skill Council and CITI-CDRA, while also serving on the Board of the National Skills Development Corporation. His roles put him at the crossroads of industry, policy, and capacity building, giving him a rare, holistic view of the textile value chain.

He heads Precot Meridien Limited as Chairman and Managing Director, steering a diversified presence across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka. Under his leadership, the company has been closely aligned with national goals on productivity, innovation, and sustainability.

Through CITI, he guides the only national body that connects India’s entire textile and clothing spectrum from cotton farmers and spinning units to garment exporters and textile machinery makers. The organisation acts as an essential bridge between the industry and the Government of India, ensuring that policy and on-ground realities move in the same direction.

His leadership at the Textile Sector Skill Council adds another layer to this vision. Since 2014, TSC has been building the country’s skilling backbone for the textile sector, covering everything from fibre to finished fabric. As a recognised awarding body under NCVET, TSC plays a central role in developing a competent, future-ready workforce.

He also oversees the Cotton Development and Research Association, which has been working since 1964 to strengthen cotton cultivation practices, improve farmer incomes, and raise productivity across different cotton-growing regions.

Mr Chandran holds a BSc (Hons) in Textile Technology from UMIST, UK, and an MBA from the University of Illinois, USA. Over the years, he has been an active member of various industry bodies, including TEXPROCIL. He also served as Chairman of The Southern India Mills’ Association from 2019 to 2021.

What ties all of this together is his consistent focus on strengthening the textile value chain end to end from fields to factories to global markets. His work reflects a long-term commitment to building a globally competitive and future-focused Indian textile industry.
