Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) is the only National Association that covers the entire spectrum of the Textile and Clothing Industry spanning domestic and exporting unit, including regional and sectoral associations from farms to garments and even textile machinery. CITI has signed MOUs with Thirteen major International Textile Associations for the promotion of textiles trade and investment. It, directly and indirectly, serves an industry that connects to millions of farmers, 100 million plus workforce, and 1.3 billion consumers. The cumulative annual turnover of CITI members is around USD 30 billion i.e. Rs.2 lakh crores plus.
CITI works as an interface between the Government of India and Industry. It helps the Government in providing policy inputs supports the textile and clothing sector, association, capacity building, awareness creation and policy formulation that enhance the industry’s growth potential.
CITI as a founding member of NSDC and a promoter of the Textile Sector Skill Council, plays a pioneering role in creating and enhancing the availability of skilled force for the sector.
CITI as a founding member of the ITME Society has also been contributing towards technology enhancement in the sector.
CITI has a subsidiary body called CITI – Cotton Development and Research Association (CITI–CDRA), Through CDRA, CITI has been supporting cotton extension and seed development activities since 1964 in different parts of the country.
The Confederation has established a Young Entrepreneurs Group (YEG) functioning since March 2003, comprising young entrepreneurs in the industry holding executive positions.
