Sub.: Identification of Best Available Techniques (BATs) in context with ongoing CPCB’s Textile project titled “Preparation of BAT Reference Document/ COINDS Document for Textile Sector in India”- reg.
Dear Sirs/Madam,
Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in association with the German Environmental Agency – UBA, GIZ, and M/s Re Sustainability Solutions Pvt Ltd is carrying out a project for the preparation of Best Available Techniques Reference / Comprehensive Industry Document (BREF / COINDS) and Environmental Permit / Standards for Textile Industry Sector.
This study mainly aims to review the national/international regulatory standards for textile production industries, various processes/technologies adopted, and the use of resources like water, power, manpower, chemicals, fuel, etc. The study will include around seven tasks:
- Review of Relevant National / International experience
- Preparation of Inventory of the Textile Industries
- In-depth studies
- Emission inventory/estimation of the typical textile industry
- Emission factor development for the textile industry
- Development of standards for the textile industry – Standard for effluent and emission
- Suggest/recommend policy & guidelines for better working & housekeeping in the textile industry
In this regard, CPCB has requested the industry provide a few techniques or processes that they consider to be the Best Available Techniques (BAT) and is being followed in the textile industry.
Additionally, CPCB has also requested to provide the technical note/write-up for the suggested BAT w.r.t to the benefits of adopting such techniques in terms of water consumption, chemical consumption, energy consumption, cost savings, product quality & overall efficiency along with any supporting document (if any) as per the attached Annexure-I.
Members are therefore requested to share BAT (along with the supporting document as asked in Annexure-I) which can be forwarded to CPCB to be included in the study so as to benefit the entire textile industry.
