Sub.: Request for inputs related to import surge of textile & apparel items – reg.

Dear Sirs/Madam,

The Ministry of Textiles, in a recent communication, has shared a list of specific HSN codes where a significant import surge has been observed in the current financial year, requesting the industry’s insights on this trend.

Identified HSN codes consists of certain categories of the below products:

• Flax
• Viscose Rayon Yarn
• Laminated and coated fabrics of Plastics and PU
• MMF pile fabrics
• Woven fabric of polyester
• Trousers Bib and Brace Overalls Breeches and Shorts of Cotton

CITI has done a primary analysis of the identified HSN codes in terms of imports in Value/Volume, major supplying countries and unit price of imports and is attached for the reference of members.

Members are requested to kindly check the list of HSN codes once and share their valuable feedback on codes where the industry has significant import dependency and those that negatively impact domestic industry, to enable CITI submit the necessary feedback to the Ministry.

The above feedback may be submitted by 1^st November 2024.
