CITI-CDRA Golden Jubilee Celebrations–Tuesday, 12th April 2022, 10.00 AM onwards – Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi
Greetings from the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI)!
As you are aware, CITI’s Cotton Development & Research Association (CDRA), established in the year 1970, has completed 50 years of its services to the Indian textile industry. On this important occasion, CITI-CDRA Golden Jubilee Celebrations Mega Event will be organized in the Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on Tuesday, 12th April 2022, 10.00 AM onwards. The Theme of the Mega Event is “KAPAS KI ADHIK UPAJ, SHUDH UPAJ”.
CDRA is a social welfare initiative of the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI). Its projects are aimed at empowering the cotton farmers through Good Agricultural Practices (GAPS) for enhancing yield, reducing costs of production and increasing cotton farmers’ income. It is heartening to bring to your kind notice that during 2020-21, the project activities covered 90,000 farmers in 1700 villages of Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh and helped them achieve a 30% extra yield of cotton lint per hectare.
It is our pleasure to inform you that Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, Hon’ble Vice President of India, has kindly consented to inaugurate CITI-CDRA Golden Jubilee Celebrations.
Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Union Minister of Textiles, Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs and Food & Public Distribution, has kindly consented to deliver the Keynote Address in the Inaugural Session and Smt. Darshana Vikram Jardosh, Hon’ble Minister of State for Textiles & Railways, has kindly agreed to deliver the Special Address in the Valedictory Session.
We have also invited Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Hon’ble Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, to deliver the Valedictory Address.
The Event will have four important Sessions on the various aspects of the Cotton value chain. These sessions will be featuring industry leaders, subject experts, technology suppliers and policymakers who will congregate and deliberate on the emerging opportunities, challenges and way forward for the cotton value chain.
Prominent Cotton Farmers from all over India and leading National and International Associations, State Agricultural Departments, global Cotton farming experts, CEOs of textiles and clothing companies, academia, are expected to participate in this mega event.
This mega event will not only offer the participants an opportunity to interact with a very select group of 800-1000 peers from cotton-based textile & clothing industry, but also provide them a platform to brainstorm, share and gain key insights into the present and future of this dynamic sector.
On this occasion, CITI is also bringing out a Coffee Table Book on Cotton titled “Millennial Shades of Cotton”, pictorially capturing its history from the time immemorial, its role in catalysing India’s development over millennia, the important role played by this “wonder fibre” and its products in the freedom struggle.
Keeping in view the importance of the CITI-CDRA Golden Jubilee Celebrations mega event, it is our privilege to invite you to kindly attend the mega event scheduled at 10.00 AM onwards on Tuesday, 12th April 2022 and enrich the deliberations.
