Mr. Rakesh Mehrais the Chairman of Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI), Textile Sector Skill Council (TSC) and CITI CDRA. He is also the Board Member of National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC). A Chartered Accountant by profession, he is the Chairman of Banswara Syntex Limited (BSL), integrated textile manufacturer & exporter of yarns, fabrics, and garments, having a turnover of Rs 1,400 crores.
CITI – CITI is the only National Association that covers the entire spectrum of the Textile and Clothing Industry spanning domestic and exporting unit, including regional and sectoral associations from farms to garments and even textile machinery. CITI works as an interface between the Government of India and Industry.
TSC– TSC was established in 2014 as a Section 8 company under Companies Act 2013 for developing the ecosystem for skilling in the textile sector for the entire value chain from fiber to finished fabric. TSC is a recognized Awarding Body for the textile Sector by the National Council for Vocational Education & Training (NCVET), under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship.
CITI CDRA – CITI has a subsidiary body CITI – Cotton Development and Research Association (CITI–CDRA). CDRA has been working on improving cotton agronomic practices, farmer’s income & cotton productivity since 1964 in different parts of the country.
Mr. Mehra joined BSL in 1986 and was one of the pioneers in developing the export of Man-Made Textiles out of India. He has to his credit the opening up of the fabric export business to the UK and the Yarn Export Business to Turkey.
Mr. Mehra has been associated with various Industry Associations. He has served as Chairman of The Synthetic & Rayon Textile Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC) for two terms. He was President of Indian Spinners’ Association (ISA).
