Dear Sirs/Madam,

Members are informed that the World Trade Organization (WTO) has a Committee on Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT Committee), which serves as a forum for member countries to discuss regulations, standards, and conformity assessment procedures that differ from internationally accepted standards and may impact international trade. Such measures often result in additional testing costs, duplication of certifications, extended approval timelines, and shipment delays, thereby adversely affecting the competitiveness of exporters.

The Committee seeks to ensure that these measures do not constitute unnecessary or unjustifiable obstacles to trade, while promoting transparency and effective implementation of the TBT Agreement.

The next meeting of the WTO-TBT is scheduled to take place shortly. In this regard, Ministry of Textiles has invited suggestions from the industry on the Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) being faced by the industry that may be taken up in the forthcoming meeting of WTO TBT Committee.

Members are therefore requested to share their valuable inputs/suggestions in this regard latest by 13th Feb 2026 to enable CITI to represent the same at appropriate level. The information may kindly be provided in the format given below:
