Sub: Cotton Bales (Quality Control) Order, 2023 – reg.

 

Dear Sirs/Madam,

 

This is to inform you all that Ministry of Textiles vide. S.O. 948(E). dated 28^th February 2023 has notified the Cotton Bales (Quality Control) Order, 2023 which shall come into force from 28^th August 2023 (after 6 months from the date of announcement) thereby mandating the suppliers of cotton bales to obtain a BIS certificate on or before 27^th August 2023.

The aforesaid Cotton Bales (Quality Control) Order, 2023 prescribes the requirements of bales of ginned cotton as well as the requirements of the materials used for the packing of bales.

Members are therefore requested to ensure that the cotton bales purchased by them post 28^th August 2023 must be BIS certified.

The Cotton Bales (Quality Control) Order, 2023 and the corresponding BIS standard are attached for your ready reference. In case of any suggestions on the BIS standard, members are requested to kindly share the same by 6^th March 2023 so that the same can be taken up with BIS for the necessary action.
