Sub.: Information required for Price Policy for Kharif Crops 2023-24 marketing season-reg.

Dear Sirs/Madam,

The Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) is in the process of formulating Price Policy for Kharif Crops for ragi, maize, tur, moong, urad, groundnut, sunflower and cotton. In this connection, CACP has requested for the relevant information highlighting important issues and developments in the cotton sector including expert views and suggestions for tackling the problems faced by the cottonseed economy. The inputs and insights provided will be extremely useful to the Commission for making price and non-price recommendations for raw cotton to the Government.

An emphasis may be laid on (a) demand- supply balance, (b) price situation and support price intervention, (c) a reasoned suggestion for the level of MSP for raw cotton, (d) FAQ norms on moisture content and minimum and/or maximum limits permissible for micronaire values for the forthcoming season. In particular, your assessment of the balance sheet of cotton may be shared in the format enclosed. CACP will be particularly interested to know your views for domestic cotton sector and expanding global textile trade.

We request you to kindly provide your valuable inputs latest by 29th December 2022 (format enclosed), so that the same could be compiled and shared with CACP by 30th December 2022.

This is for your information and further necessary action.

Thanking you,

Yours faithfully,
