Committee:

Dear Sirs/Madam,

Sub: Observations/ Expectations/ Suggestions/ Concerns of the Textile Industry with regard to new QCOs/ Standards – reg.

Kindly refer to our circular Cir(111)/2022 dated Sept. 02 2022 regarding CITI in association with BIS holding an awareness workshop on new QCOs and Standards for the Textile Sector scheduled on 12th September 2022 between 3-5 PM.

In a bid to strengthen Standards for the textile industry, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has been mandated to formulate Quality Control Orders (QCOs) for certain products which have significant bearing on consumers health & safety.

BIS is also in the process of framing the next version of Standards National Action Plan (SNAP) 2022-27, a document to outline the new priorities and the strategic way forward in advancing the goals of national standardisation. At present, BIS is following SNAP 2019 which includes over 1400 Standards for the Textile Department which can be accessed through the below link: https://www.services.bis.gov.in/php/BIS_2.0/dgdashboard/published/subcommtt?depid=NzE%3D&aspect=&from=&to=). BIS has also developed around 106 Quality Control Orders (QCOs) for the textile sector.

We will be placing industry’s concerns before BIS during the webinar.

In this regard, we request you to send your observations/ expectations/ comments/ suggestions for the existing/ proposed standards and also for the SNAP 2022-27 in Google Form Link: https://forms.gle/o8knoEdZhmMqGbpN7 by Friday, i.e. 9th September 2022.

We look forward to your prompt action in this regard.

Thanking you,

Yours faithfully,

Chandrima Chatterjee
