Committee:

Dear Sirs/Madam,

It is being reported that imports of cheaper fabric are increasing significantly in India particularly, Chinese fabric routed through duty free access countries, which is hurting the domestic industry. The industry is of the viewpoint that it is essential to check imports of such fabrics which will provide a relief to the domestic industry. In order to represent the same to the concerned Government official, the Industry is requested to share the below-given details of such fabric categories:

  • HSN code-wise Import data (value and volume)
  • List of producers and consumers
  • Production data of domestic suppliers with the break-up of sales of same in domestic market and exports.
  • Total Domestic demand
  • Products made out of such fabric, their major producers (with production numbers), and the quantum of exports of the same.
  • Why the industry is importing (specific reasons supported by data)

Members are requested to furnish the above data by 26th October 2023 and also share your observations/suggestions on the same so that the same can be compiled and represented to the Government.

Placed for your necessary action.

Thanking you,

Yours faithfully,
